YOU are in control of the things you Like and Dislike, Don’t let them take it away from you.
UNLESS, Its harmful to yourself and/or others.

A tip! To not let people ruin things, do them positively. If your ex ruined a movie then pock a day when things are going well and grab some snacks you love and comfy clothes to watch it. If you got catcalled or harassed at a restaurant, bring a friend or two that you’re close to and only talk about happy stuff. Take as many things that you have a positive connection to and pile them on the thing you’re trying to take back.

A more overt way, and very helpful in the moment I’ve found and often used in session with clients, is to ask yourself “Does this person deserve to have this hold over me?”. The key word here is DESERVE. Not if they already have power over you to, not if they’re scary enough to, not if it feels like they’ve already taken things from you, do they as a person deserve to have power over you?

I promise, the answer is no. No one does.

I used to have an adopted penguin (remote). As first purchased as a Christmas gift for my brother who loved penguins, the 50$ donation went to preservation of south American seabirds. And in return we used to get pictures of our Penguin and its chicks, and updates on where they migrated during the year. We kept the recurrent donation because birds, penguins, and south-american are important to this family.

but then the guy who organized everything died, and the program ended. I kinda miss his very enthusiastic emails were he went on for paragraphs after paragraphs on those penguins.

I wonder how our penguin, named Penguin-the-Penguin by our brother, is doing now. Hope him and his family are still eating all the fish they can find.

that’s where they live, it’s pretty sparse

and they make pretty flimsy nests.

In October (right now) they swim to Brazil and they make a stop at PENGUIN ISLAND

there is one abandoned lighthouse, and a bajilion penguins, during a specific week of the year in October.

I hope Mike from Seabirds.org knows he did a good job preserving the environment, and that he brought joys to penguin fans everywhere.

I still have a framed picture of our Penguin.

You will never be a mad scientist like the motherfuckers at r/macarons

The base Macaron is in itself a very technical task, and they’re notorious for being difficult to bake. Lots of things can go wrong: your merengue can be the wrong texture, the merengue can refuse to foam up at all from trace oils in the bowl, the ingredients love to misbehave if they’re not measured precisely, a shell can refuse to form or dry cracked, the oven can have weird drafts that make the cookies sag, your flavor ingredients can mess up the recipe, you can break the shell trying to release them from the tray, and so on. It’s almost stupid hard to get consistently viable macarons, and these people practice a lot to get to this point.

Not to be deterred from the already difficult task of creating good macarons, these people are making experimental flavors, irregular shapes, complex designs, even handpainting designs with foodsafe watercolors. Sometimes for free.

I’m glad this kind of technical skill and dedication is put towards delicious cookies, because if these people were into making bioweapons or something instead, we’d all be so fucked

Their unlikely friendship could be enough to hunt down the Beast…if they don’t kill each other first.
